Reiki Training for Mental Health Professionals
Reiki Training for Mental Health Professionals
You know there is more to the art of healing than just protocols, techniques, and theory.
You have taken plenty of those courses and trainings on HOW to do therapy.
(Secretly you wonder if anyone is coming up with anything new... it seems to be the same ol' stuff repackaged ten different ways).
You have been searching for a course that captures the undefinable-
the (dare you say it?)...the spiritual quality
of your work with clients.
It is hard to define- this feeling you know
but can't quite describe.
You know when you come in contact with it-
because it is
**that moment**
when transformation occurs.
The transcendent-goosebump moment
when insight blooms,
emotions release,
and you can energetically feel the change
unfolding right before your eyes.
It is your presence
your energy,
and your ability to attune
that is far more important than any technique you employ during a session.
It is these qualities that create the magical moments of change.
And strangely… Reiki keeps showing up.
In that funny, synchronistic way that things do when you are on the right track.
You are curious… and yet it seems like no one really knows how to talk about what exactly Reiki is without sounding like a little too ‘woo-woo’ for your comfort.
Here is the dilemma.
How does one describe something that can only be understood through experience?
(Just like that transcendent moment of change in the therapy room).
We can throw around descriptors like:
Reiki feels soft, supportive, warm, powerful, transformative, soothing, present, all-encompassing, benevolent, relaxing, insight generating, curious, infused with higher consciousness, graceful, accepting … and yet only capture part of the picture.
We can define it literally as: Reiki is Japanese based healing technique.
Or we can attempt to capture the actual experience of Reiki.
The actual experience of Reiki is a felt sense.
It is it is a deep lungful of fresh air,
it is softened muscles,
and a sense of easy clarity,
of tenderness,
of self-acceptance,
and inner knowing.
A sense of being in connection with yourself and the universe at large.
If you
could facilitate that level of change
in your clients
session after session
day after day.
THAT
would be pretty fucking amazing!
Guess what?
Reiki is pretty fucking amazing.
Self care is an ethical imperative for all mental health care providers. We all know this- but real self care- the kind that actually leaves you feeling refreshed, present, and filled up seems to elusive for many of us.
Reiki is an effective way to recharge your batteries, clear your mind, and soothe your overwrought nervous system.
The beauty of Reiki lies in its simplicity and accessibility. Just 5-7 minutes of Reiki (say in between clients!) can increase your sense of embodiment, fine tune your intuitive gifts, and process out whatever you may be carrying with you.
The result?
A refreshed, attuned and fully present therapist
ready to share their unique gifts
with the next person who walks through the door.
As a therapist, you already have a pretty impressive toolbox to pull from. And...we ALL get stuck from time to time.
Reiki is simply that- another tool in your tool box. It is a well documented, researched, complementary healing practice that for some has created life changing shifts- especially in those 'stuck' moments.
Reiki can be easily integrated with nearly all existing mental health interventions. It enhances mindfulness, somatic work, increases insight, and coping with strong emotional release.
The field of trauma research has transformed the practice of psychotherapy. We now understand the physiological changes that occur in the brain, body, and even the genetic code when traumatic events are experienced. These changes are inextricably linked to the psychological impact unresolved trauma and grief that can create.
Reiki has been shown to engage the parasympathetic nervous system, balance brain waves, and facilitate the release of traumatic memories in a single session.
A largely over looked (and traditionally avoided topic by our field) is human spirituality. Regardless of individual belief systems, spirituality has been linked to greater trauma resiliency and is often a big part of post-traumatic growth.
Reiki does not shy away from connection to spirit. Rather, it embraces and incorporates the connection human beings have with the unseen world.
Reiki is used in many clinical settings (such as Cleveland clinic)
and yet can still be defined as a 'spiritual practice'- much like meditation, yoga, or mindfulness can.
Reiki is a truly holistic and integrative approach that addresses all parts of a person
mind, body, and spirit.

Nope! Not here.
Reiki for Therapists is anchored around your own intuitive knowing. We learn to surrender to the healing available through the higher self and Reiki energy.
There is nothing prescriptive about this class.
You will be supported and guided each step of the way but ultimately there is no clear pathway when doing tranformative work. You will be encouraged to look inward and cultivate trust in yourself.
Reiki is pretty darn magical… there is just no other way to describe it.
Western science is busy attempting to figure out WHY Reiki works but there is a lot of research documenting its effectiveness and that IT DOES WORK!
Due to Reiki’s spiritual nature- the act of sharing and receiving Reiki is completely subjective.
You simply have to experience it to fully understand. ✨
